John Souttar of Rangers is a potential alternative target for West Ham for the centre-back position.

John Souttar has been asked to leave this transfer window after conversations with Derek McInnes. It has been suggested that West Ham United will pursue a deal for John Souttar. The i Paper's print edition on 22 July reported that the Govan side's former technical director could use his connections in Ibrox to strengthen West Ham's squad.

West Ham's new director of player recruitment, Nils Koppen, may recommend Rangers' centre-half John Souttar to head coach Nuno. Leicester City is also currently interested in the player, and several other clubs, including Watford, Sheffield United and Cardiff City, have also been linked with him. Souttar's contract with Rangers runs until May 2027, and the club was reportedly seeking a seven-figure fee for him in July 2026.
