Daizen Maeda Transfer from Celtic to Everton
Daizen Maeda was linked with an exit during the summer transfer window, but Celtic kept him at the club. The player is reportedly unhappy with his situation and is seeking a move in January, and Celtic could consider selling him. According to Football Insider, Everton are interested in signing the player. Pete O’Rourke claimed there is an opportunity for Celtic to sell Daizen Maeda, adding that Maeda has definitely not been at his best this season. O'Rourke stated that Maeda has probably been distracted by summer transfer speculation and was perhaps disappointed that he did not get the move he had hoped for. He also said that Celtic cannot let Maeda go without first bringing in a replacement. O’Rourke believes the player is maybe a bit unhappy with his situation and suggested that if interest arises in the January window, Celtic might consider allowing him the move he wished for in the summer. Maeda is under contract until 2027.
According to TEAMtalk, Daizen Maeda wants to leave Celtic in January after he became frustrated when the club rejected a number of approaches from several Premier League clubs in the summer. Maeda is said to have felt ‘sidelined’ during contract negotiations and ‘overlooked’ for a significant transfer that could have improved his chances for Japan’s 2026 World Cup squad. His current contract is set to expire in 2027. An unnamed source stated that Maeda needs a fresh challenge, was negatively affected by the rejection, and has made it clear that a transfer must happen in January. It is understood that Celtic are ‘reluctantly open’ to his departure for a suitable fee, which is believed to be close to his ETV of €13.6 million. Everton are among the clubs competing with Brentford to sign Maeda.
Everton are considering a January move for Celtic forward Daizen Maeda, according to Football Insider. The report claims Maeda has emerged as a target for Everton and is open to joining a Premier League club. Journalist Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider that he is sure the player would be interested in a move to the Premier League, but that it could be tough to lure Maeda from Celtic in the January window. It was also noted that TEAMtalk's Fraser Fletcher reported on August 18 that Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Brentford are also keen on the Japanese international. Over the summer, Celtic's valuation was at least £25m, which reflected Maeda’s contract until 2027 and his role under manager Brendan Rodgers.
Team Talk reports on the growing interest from Premier League clubs in Celtic's Daizen Maeda following his impressive performances. Daizen Maeda's impressive performances for Celtic have drawn attention from top Premier League clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford, Everton and West Ham United. Celtic value him at around £25 million.
