Igor Matanović

Recent reports from October 2026 consistently state SC Freiburg's asking price for the player is approximately €60 million, or £50 million, with his valuation having reportedly risen to that level. This figure is often benchmarked against a similar recent transfer. In contrast, reports from September 2026 suggested a potential transfer fee could be around €35-40 million. During the summer of 2026, his valuation was reportedly around £30 million (~€35 million). Transfermarkt's valuation has also increased, from a reported €22 million in August 2026 to €30 million in October 2026. The player completed a transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt to SC Freiburg in July 2025 for a reported fee of around €8 million.

Our valuation for Igor Matanović is driven by the consistently reported asking price of approximately €60 million (£50 million) from SC Freiburg in October 2026, amid strong interest from multiple Premier League clubs. This high valuation is supported by the player's long-term contract until 2029, which gives Freiburg a powerful negotiating position. While earlier reports from September 2026 suggested a lower fee of €35-40 million, the more recent and numerous reports point to a significant increase. The player's rapid appreciation from his €8 million transfer in July 2025 further justifies a substantial fee, with our estimate reflecting a potential compromise just below the firm asking price.
