Fiorentina had shown interest in Freiburg's 23-year-old Croatian striker Igor Matanović, with a potential move to the Serie A club having been described as difficult but not impossible. However, the Italian team is now reportedly pursuing a deal for Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee, suggesting they have shifted their focus. Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Matanović throughout the summer and he is also said to be of interest to Manchester United. Matanović has made 12 appearances for Croatia, scoring two goals. He joined Freiburg in July 2025 for a fee reported to be around €8 million. His current market value is €22.00m, according to Transfermarkt.
