Matanović is a 23-year-old Croatian international with 13 caps and 2 goals for his country. He is being considered by several teams that are seeking attacking reinforcements for January or the upcoming summer. According to sources, discussions are not advanced with any club, and no bids have been made yet. Freiburg are under no pressure to sell because Matanović's contract runs until 2029. The club is now said to value him at around £50 million. Matanović transferred to Freiburg from Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2025 for a fee reported to be around €8m. His valuation was reported to be around £30m in the summer of 2026. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €30.00m.
