Manchester United and Tottenham have held discussions regarding a potential transfer for SC Freiburg's 23-year-old striker, Igor Matanović. Matanović is a Croatia international with 12 caps and 2 goals for his country. In his debut season at Freiburg, he scored 15 goals, three of which were during the club's progression to the Europa League final. He subsequently made three appearances at the World Cup. Manchester United considers Matanović a potential replacement for Joshua Zirkzee. However, it is not certain that the Dutch international will depart this summer, despite strong interest from Juventus. Matanović moved to Freiburg from Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2025 for a fee reported to be around €8 million, and his current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €22.00m.
