Igor Matanović Transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt to Dinamo Zagreb
Sportske Novosti reports on the transfer situation regarding Igor Matanović and Dinamo Zagreb. Igor Matanović was considered the primary choice for Zvone Boban, the chief creator of Dinamo's sports policy, to fill the number 9 position at Dinamo Zagreb. However, Dinamo decided not to pursue Matanović after Eintracht Frankfurt demanded a transfer fee of ten million euros. Matanović did not insist on moving to Dinamo, as he is more inclined towards continuing his career in the Bundesliga.
Dinamo, under the leadership of Zvonimir Boban, offered Igor Matanović one of the highest salaries in the club along with significant playing time. The move to Dinamo is seen as an opportunity for Matanović to enhance his chances of being selected for the World Cup by playing in the Europa League.
Dinamo Zagreb is interested in acquiring Igor Matanović. The club is undergoing a team reconstruction and needs a forward after the departure of Bruno Petković and Wilfried Kanga. They are offering one of the highest salaries in the club and significant game time, which could increase the player's chances of playing in the World Cup next summer. German media have reported Dinamo's interest along with other clubs.
Igor Matanović was initially considered by Dinamo as a forward option. However, he refused to join Dinamo, preferring to stay in the Bundesliga.
Igor Matanović is being considered for a loan move to Dinamo Zagreb with an option to buy for 6-7 million euros. However, this amount is deemed too high for the Zagreb team, but Zvonimir Boban is determined to pursue this acquisition.
Igor Matanović was close to joining Dinamo, but Eintracht has decided against the move. Previously, Dinamo was interested in Matanović in 2023, but Eintracht's price exceeded four million euros.
Dinamo is also in search of another center forward, despite having two quality forwards, Petković and Kulenović. Matanović could fit into the team as Petković prefers playing with another forward. Dinamo, along with Rijeka and Hajduk, is reportedly reaching out to those managing Matanović's career.
Igor Matanović, a 21-year-old Croatian national team player, is currently playing in a limited role at Eintracht Frankfurt. There is a possibility that Eintracht might loan him out to Dinamo at least until the end of the season to fulfill Dinamo's need for a goal-scoring forward.
Dinamo expressed interest in Igor Matanović, believing it would be better for him to develop in a domestic environment. Initial contact was made in December 2020, but the club decided they had enough forwards, and an injury halted the process. The situation was revived in October 2022 when Matanović performed well in Karlsruher. However, Dinamo considered the 3-4 million euros fee, plus salary and commission, too risky given their existing forward options.
