Claudio Echeverri Transfer from Manchester City to River Plate
River Plate considered Claudio Echeverri's situation an opportunity for him to return to the club, but Manchester City declined, as they prefer for him to stay in Europe.
According to journalist Silvio Chattas on TyC Sports, River Plate will make one last attempt to sign Claudio Echeverri. Journalist Germán García Grova reports that River Plate will enquire about acquiring Echeverri. According to Flavio Azzaro, Claudio Echeverri will maintain his stance against Manchester City and intends to make his position clear, stating that he will play for River or City. The move to River Plate depends on whether the Girona move is finalised.
According to Claudio Echeverri's agent, the player would always want to return to his former club River Plate, with which he has a strong connection, but a move is not possible at the moment. The agent stated this is because Manchester City does not want to send him back to South America, and added that Echeverri would be very happy to return if circumstances were different.
AS reports that Claudio Echeverri will return to Manchester from his loan at Bayer Leverkusen because he did not receive the necessary opportunities. The Argentine footballer is seeking a new destination to gain playing time and to be in contention for the 2026 World Cup. The report from AS also states that the Argentine has several options available and requires a place where he is shown confidence. River Plate is also under consideration as a loan destination.
Claudio Echeverri's loan at Bayer Leverkusen will be terminated this winter because of a lack of playing time, and the 19-year-old will return to Manchester City. The player is not expected to stay with Manchester City and will be sent on a new loan. Both Girona and his former club, River Plate, have expressed their interest.
