Odsonne Édouard Transfer from Crystal Palace to Lens

L'Équipe reports on Odsonne Édouard's transfer to RC Lens. Odsonne Édouard, the former goal machine for Celtic and the French U21 team, has signed a three-year contract with RC Lens. He was no longer in the plans at Crystal Palace, where he had one year left on his contract after being purchased for 16 million euros from Celtic in the summer of 2021. He accepted the project presented by Lens, signing the contract after passing his medical examination. The transfer fee is between 3.5 and 4 million euros.

The discussions are progressing well between Lens and the 27-year-old forward, as well as with Crystal Palace. Édouard, who was injured throughout last season, needs to revive his career. He was close to joining OGC Nice earlier in the transfer window, but the deal could not be finalized due to circumstantial reasons.

Lens is considering Odsonne Édouard as a potential candidate for their striker position, although his salary is notably above the norm for France. The 27-year-old French forward from Crystal Palace is one of the options Lens is evaluating to enhance their attacking line-up. Despite the difficulties posed by his substantial salary expectations, Lens remains open to the possibility of acquiring him as they aim to strengthen their squad for the forthcoming season. Édouard's contract with Crystal Palace is valid until 2026, and his market value is assessed at €8.00m by Transfermarkt. Additionally, clubs such as Nice and Girona have shown interest in the forward.
