According to journalist Lorenzo Lepore on X, an agreement has been reached between Birmingham City and Brighton for Jeremy Sarmiento. Brighton will recall the Ecuador international from his loan at Cremonese to enable the move to Birmingham. Brighton considered the recall because Sarmiento has not appeared for Cremonese since early November.

Birmingham City are the leading contenders to sign Brighton & Hove Albion's 23-year-old winger, Jeremy Sarmiento, who has struggled for playing time at Cremonese. He has made seven Serie A appearances this season without registering a goal or an assist. Championship rivals Wrexham and Middlesbrough are also interested in the Ecuadorian international. However, separate reports state that Boro are no longer pursuing Sarmiento after talks stalled. The proposed move is expected to be a permanent transfer. Sarmiento, who has 24 caps and 2 goals for his country, has a current Transfermarkt valuation of €5.00m. It was reported that Cremonese's loan deal for the player last summer included a €4 million option to buy.
