Chelsea have shown interest in KRC Genk's 21-year-old left-back Yaimar Medina and scouted the player during a match against Cercle Brugge. The English club would like to sign the Ecuador international this transfer window and subsequently move him to Strasbourg. KRC Genk currently have no desire to discuss a transfer, but could be persuaded to negotiate if a very significant offer is made. Genk, who signed Medina a year ago for 4.85 million euros, hold a strong negotiating position as the player is under contract until mid-2029. Medina has made 17 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League this season, providing one assist, and has been capped four times by Ecuador. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €4.00m.
