There is discussion around whether Middlesbrough should pursue a January move for Ipswich Town's 25-year-old Albanian international Anis Mehmeti, who has experienced limited involvement since his £3.5m transfer from Bristol City in January 2026. The playmaker has only made 20 appearances for Ipswich, with his sole appearance this season being in the EFL Cup. It is suggested that a potential transfer to Middlesbrough could be either permanent or temporary. While Birmingham City were previously linked with Mehmeti, it is now proposed that Middlesbrough should be a primary contender for his signature. The player's energy levels and versatility, including his ability to operate centrally or on the left flank, are cited as reasons he would be a viable option. Mehmeti, who has 9 caps and one goal for Albania, is under contract until June 2029 and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €13.00M. Derby County have also been linked with the attacking midfielder.
