Soumaila Coulibaly, a 22-year-old French-Malian defender, has signed for Watford on loan from Strasbourg for the 2026/27 season. The move reportedly includes an option to buy. This summer, Coulibaly had been linked with various Championship clubs, including West Brom and Swansea City. His transfer to Watford follows the conclusion of talks with Swansea in the last few days. Coulibaly has been capped four times for France at U20 level and is under contract with Strasbourg until 2029. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €6.00m. The French club signed him from Borussia Dortmund in July 2025 for a reported fee of around €7 million.
