Flamengo has made significant progress in their negotiations to acquire Samuel Lino from Atlético de Madrid, with the transaction anticipated to be finalized at approximately 25 million euros. The discussions have reached advanced stages, with only a few remaining details to be ironed out, such as the payment structure and certain contract variables. Samuel Lino, who had been training separately from the main group at Atlético de Madrid following the Club World Cup, was poised for a transfer should a suitable offer be presented. Although there was interest from Premier League clubs and Napoli, it was Flamengo's project and coach Filipe Luís that ultimately persuaded him to return to Brazilian football. The 25-year-old forward has been part of Atlético de Madrid since the 2023/24 season, during which he appeared in 93 matches, netted 12 goals, and contributed 16 assists. Prior to his stint at Atlético, Lino played for Valencia after establishing his reputation at Gil Vicente in Portugal. His transfer to Flamengo signifies a homecoming to his native Brazil, where he began his career in Flamengo's youth system and also played for São Bernardo.
