Nélson Semedo Transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Benfica

Nelson Semedo's contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers is expiring soon, and the club has not been able to agree on an extension with him. Graeme Bailey informed Molineux News that Semedo is likely to move abroad this summer, most likely back to Benfica. Wolves wanted him to stay, but it's unlikely that he will extend his stay at the West Midlands club.

Nelson Semedo's former club, Benfica, is also interested in bringing him back. This interest comes amid Wolverhampton's proposal for a contract extension with a substantial salary increase, and the ongoing negotiations with Marseille.

Nélson Semedo, a 31-year-old right-back, is being considered by Benfica as a potential target for the upcoming season. With his contract at Wolverhampton nearing its end, Semedo is contemplating his next career move, possibly influenced by emotional factors. Benfica is keen to bolster their right-back options, a priority they had set in the last January transfer window. However, the transfer would require special conditions, particularly Semedo's acceptance of a much lower salary than his current earnings at Wolverhampton, which exceed Benfica's salary limits. Semedo is also weighing other possibilities, including offers from peripheral markets such as Saudi Arabia, which could provide a financially rewarding conclusion to his career. The prospect of returning to Benfica carries sentimental significance for Semedo, and both the club and the player have expressed a mutual interest in the transfer. Nonetheless, no concrete agreements have been reached as of yet.

Nélson Semedo, who is currently playing for Wolverhampton, is being considered for a potential return to Benfica at the end of the season. Bruno Lage, the coach of Benfica, has suggested that while there is a possibility of Semedo's return, the primary focus remains on the current season and the pursuit of more titles. He stressed that any transfer discussions involving Semedo are matters for the next season, as the immediate priority is concentrating on forthcoming matches and winning additional trophies. Lage also mentioned the uncertainty surrounding whether Semedo, who had previously excelled at Benfica before transferring to Barcelona, would support Benfica or Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League encounter.
