River Plate has taken measures concerning its negotiating position for 18-year-old attacking midfielder Lautaro Pereyra, who is attracting attention from several clubs. These measures are primarily to protect against a potential move by Benfica, which is closely monitoring the player. To reinforce their position, River Plate has signed Pereyra to a professional contract until 2028 that includes a €100 million release clause, as there is a belief within the Buenos Aires club that offers from Europe could arrive in January. While it is reported that Benfica is following the player's development, their interest has not yet materialized into any formal approach or offer.
