Marc Leonard Transfer from Birmingham City to Hearts

According to Fabrizio Romano, Marc Leonard will join Hearts for the remainder of the season and the agreement is complete. There has been interest from Championship clubs and the MLS. A move to Hearts would mean Leonard is returning to the club he departed from when he joined Brighton as a youth player.

Sources have told Football Insider that Marc Leonard will undergo a Hearts medical on Friday after agreeing the terms of a loan move from Birmingham City. The deal is believed to be a straight loan with no option included. The Scottish Premiership leaders have pursued Leonard to strengthen their midfield options after losing Cammy Devlin to injury.

Marc Leonard is expected to move on loan to his former club, Hearts, for the remainder of the Scottish Premiership campaign. A loan move was reportedly the club's preferred option, with interest also coming from Sheffield United and Norwich City. The Edinburgh Evening News reported on Thursday night that Leonard is expected to make a short-term return to Tynecastle and that he could make his debut against Celtic this weekend.

Birmingham City's Scottish midfielder Marc Leonard will join Hearts on a temporary basis. The 24-year-old, who was with Hearts as a youngster from 2014 to 2018, has a contract with the Championship side until the summer of 2028 but is being allowed to leave as he is not being offered regular minutes. Leonard, who joined Birmingham in July 2024, has made 17 appearances for Birmingham City this season. His departure will create space and funds for Birmingham before the transfer deadline on Monday 2nd February. The Scotland U21 international, with 7 caps, has a current Transfermarkt market value of €700k. Several Championship clubs, including Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield United, and Norwich City, have also recently been associated with the midfielder.
