Kyogo Furuhashi is expected to transfer to Birmingham City this summer. After transferring to Rennes for £10 million in January, he has faced challenges in securing playing time and has been pushed down the selection order. According to Japanese news outlet Sponichi Annex, Birmingham City is the most keen among several European clubs interested in acquiring him. Kyogo reportedly views the transfer positively, as it would enhance his chances of securing a spot in Japan's World Cup squad by providing regular playtime. The move to England's Championship would also reunite him with former Celtic teammate Tomoki Iwata and allow him to join Chris Davies. Birmingham City, with aspirations of returning to the English Premier League, considers Kyogo a pivotal part of their strategy. The transfer is regarded as a vital step for Kyogo to regain his form and secure his place in Japan's national team for the upcoming World Cup.
