Gonzalo García Transfer from Real Madrid to Leeds United
Leeds United enquired about signing Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid in the January transfer window and also wanted to sign him in the summer of 2025. The club made new enquiries about Garcia late in December but was informed that he is no longer available. Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso confirmed to the club’s hierarchy that he does not want Garcia to leave the club.
TEAMtalk transfer insider Fraser Fletcher revealed on November 19 that Leeds are preparing to make an offer of around £17m for Garcia, and that Daniel Farke convinced the board to pursue the striker. Leeds believe they have a chance of signing Garcia on a permanent deal, rather than just on loan. Garcia is under contract until 2030. Madrid are under no pressure to sell Garcia, but they may decide to sell him, considering he will find it difficult to become a regular in Xabi Alonso’s starting team. Leeds are seeking to sign more attacking players after summer signings Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have not had a significant impact.
It is reported that Leeds United are eager to finalise a deal for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Garcia during the upcoming January transfer window and aim to secure his signing with a bid that could reach €22.7 million including add-ons. According to TEAMtalk, Leeds will face significant competition from fellow Premier League clubs Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, Sunderland and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Leeds United are preparing to make a formal £17m bid for Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia in January. According to club insiders, the bid is imminent, could potentially rise to £20m with add-ons, and includes a sell-on clause acceptable to Madrid. Real Madrid are willing to approve a permanent exit or a loan with an obligation to buy for around €20m (£17.6m) to guarantee the forward gets regular football. Real Madrid are expected to demand a buy-back option in any permanent deal. TEAMtalk sources in Spain suggest the player's representatives are increasingly open to a Premier League move.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Leeds is interested in acquiring Gonzalo García. It is rumoured that Real Madrid would sell Gonzalo for 20 million euros, but it seems unlikely that Real Madrid and Xabi Alonso would let him leave if Endrick departs the club in January.
Leeds United are interested in signing Gonzalo Garcia during the summer transfer window. Leeds are prepared to offer €20 million, which is the most attractive offer on the table for Real Madrid. Real Madrid are looking to negotiate a buyback clause in the player’s contract for a fee of around €30 million. Leeds have secured promotion to the Premier League and need more attacking depth.
