Flynn Downes Transfer from Southampton to Rangers
Southampton's playmaker Flynn Downes is reportedly being targeted by Rangers this summer. The new boss, Russell Martin, is said to be keen on reuniting with the 26-year-old in the Scottish Premiership, having previously managed him at Swansea and Southampton. Downes was a pivotal player in the Southampton team that achieved promotion through the play-offs in the 2023/34 campaign while he was on loan from West Ham. He is expected to return to the south coast as they prepare for their return to the Premier League, with a transfer fee set at £15 million. Southampton is expected to demand at least £10 million to part ways with Downes, a figure that could potentially deter Rangers. Nonetheless, it is reported that CEO Patrick Stewart has assured Martin that a substantial portion of the £20 million investment from the new owners will be allocated to the Premiership giants.
