Lyon, RB Leipzig, Napoli, and some Premier League teams were among several clubs that showed serious interest this summer in Ethan Nwaneri, an English-Nigerian attacking midfielder for Arsenal. The 19-year-old has agreed to a season-long loan with Borussia Dortmund, which is expected to be finalized before the Tuesday deadline. The Bundesliga club will cover all of Nwaneri's wages during the loan period. Dortmund had wanted an option to make the transfer permanent. However, TEAMtalk revealed that Arsenal stated from the beginning that a clause of that nature would not be included because the club believes the player has a long-term future with them. Dortmund's need for an additional attacking player grew after their summer signing, Giannis Konstantelias, sustained a major injury. Nwaneri has 15 caps and 5 goals for England's U21 team and is contracted to Arsenal until 2030. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €35.00m. Reports during the summer suggested that Arsenal's asking price for a permanent sale was in the range of €45-60 million.
