Irish international Will Smallbone, 26, is set to end his 18-year association with Southampton this summer and will depart as a free agent when his contract expires. The midfielder has been capped 15 times for his country. His departure follows a loan spell at Millwall last season where a hamstring injury limited him to just 10 appearances, which was not sufficient for Southampton to offer him a new contract. Stoke City is suggested as a potential destination for Smallbone, who previously had a successful loan spell with the Potters in the 2022/23 season, making 43 league appearances. The club is reportedly in need of a creative attacking midfielder for Mark Robins' side. The central midfielder has a current market value of €3.50m, according to Transfermarkt. Derby County and West Bromwich Albion have also recently been linked as potential destinations.
