Pavel Sulc confirmed that Wrexham made a club-record £35 million bid to sign him last month, but he rejected the move. Sulc explained that he did not feel like going to a small town in Wales. It was understood that Lyon had demanded £35 million for the attacking midfielder, and that Wrexham offered the most. Sulc stated that while he considers Wrexham a cult club with a Hollywood fairytale story, he did not feel like going to the Championship or a small town in Wales.

According to journalist Pete O'Rourke, Wrexham are planning to submit a club-record bid to sign Czechia international midfielder Pavel Sulc from Lyon. According to Foot Mercato, Lyon value Pavel Sulc at a figure of at least €25 million (around £21.3 million). Lyon manager Paulo Fonseca stated at the beginning of August that Pavel Sulc was not guaranteed to stay at the club beyond the transfer deadline and said that options were available. Fonseca also said he could not say at that time if Sulc would leave, adding that the player's value is very high and that every club in Europe will be monitoring him.

According to reports, Wrexham are preparing a club-record offer for Lyon midfielder Pavel Sulc before the summer transfer window closes, and he has become their primary transfer target. The exact figure Wrexham are prepared to pay remains undisclosed, but Lyon have reportedly previously demanded up to £35 million for the 2025 Czech Footballer of the Year. Wrexham are reportedly confident they can secure an agreement for a suitable price.

It is understood that Wrexham are planning to sign Lyon and Czechia attacking midfielder Pavel Šulc, 25, in what would be a club-record transfer. Šulc joined the French club in August 2025 and his contract is valid until June 2029. He has made 24 appearances and scored 5 goals for his country. Several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa, Everton, and Leeds United, have also been recently reported as interested in the player. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €20.00m.
