Orbelín Pineda Transfer from AEK Athens to Sevilla
According to a report from the Spanish site 'fichajes.net', Matías Almeyda, who was appointed as Sevilla's new coach on Monday (16/06), wants to reunite with Orbelín Pineda. The strong bond between them and Almeyda's knowledge of the Mexican midfielder's playing style are key reasons for Sevilla's interest. Pineda's environment feels he is ready for a transfer. Sevilla is working on the deal to have Pineda ready for pre-season training. AEK wants to keep him, as he is under contract until summer 2027, but it won't be easy.
According to a Latin American publication, Sevilla may make a move for Orbelín Pineda as soon as Matías Almeyda, who is set to sign a three-year contract with Sevilla, takes over as coach. Almeyda has previously worked with Pineda at Chivas and AEK Athens, and the potential transfer is based on their successful collaboration. The report mistakenly mentions a purchase clause of eight million euros for Pineda from AEK Athens, which does not apply to European clubs but is relevant for MLS and Mexican teams. There is also a 10 million euro clause for clubs from the Middle East.
