Scouts from Sunderland and Brentford were present to observe 22-year-old Rangers centre-back Olwethu Makhanya during the 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock last weekend. In addition to interest from the Premier League, the South Africa international, who has earned four caps for his country, is receiving attention from clubs in both Italy and Spain. Rangers do not have a need to sell the defender, who joined from Philadelphia Union in the summer. The Glasgow club's position regarding keeping Makhanya is considered strong because he is under contract until 2030. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €8.00m. Rangers acquired Makhanya in July 2026 for a confirmed fee of €3.6 million.
