Neil Farrugia Transfer from Barnsley to Dundee United
Neil Farrugia has become Dundee United’s first signing of the window, with the former Barnsley defender signing a two-and-a-half year deal. Manager Jim Goodwin first attempted to sign Neil Farrugia when he was leaving Shamrock Rovers, before the player moved to England. Goodwin confirmed that he has liked Farrugia for a long time. The United chief continued to monitor Farrugia and acted when he discovered he might be available. Goodwin stated that it was a straightforward decision for them when they knew he was going to be available and that it was also a straightforward decision to try and complete the deal.
Neil Farrugia has completed a transfer from Barnsley to Dundee United, signing a contract with the Scottish Premiership side until the summer of 2028. The former Ireland Under-21 international spent a year with League One team Barnsley, where he made 30 appearances and scored once. Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin stated that Farrugia fits the team's tactical framework, praised his versatility, and noted his defensive discipline.
