Mikel Amondarain has decided to join Bologna over several Premier League clubs, according to Tuttomercato. An interest in him was shown by five to six Premier League clubs, including Nottingham Forest. To join Bologna, he rejected more economically attractive offers from these clubs.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly tracking Estudiantes' midfielder Mikel Amondarain as they seek to strengthen their midfield. Bologna are also monitoring the 21-year-old, for whom Estudiantes previously rejected a €6m bid from Real Betis. Reports from July 2026 suggest Estudiantes are asking for a fee between €9 million and €10 million for the player.
