River Plate central defender Lautaro Rivero, an Argentinian international, could be sold in January as the Argentine club needs to raise funds. The 22-year-old's managers have proposed him to Italian clubs Bologna and Udinese. River Plate's asking price is currently around ten million euros, with a fixed part of at least eight million and a small, easily achievable bonus component; this valuation has been reduced from about fifteen million euros a few months ago due to the player's performance. Bologna may be interested, but only for a fee not exceeding six million euros. With the clubs' valuations far apart, no negotiations have started at this time. Premier League club Brighton has also been following the defender. Rivero, who joined his club in January 2024, has a contract until the end of 2029. His current market value is €6.00m, according to Transfermarkt. In the 2025/2026 season, he has made 21 domestic league appearances, scoring one goal.
