Liam Gibbs joined Preston North End on loan from Norwich City, hoping to establish himself as a central midfielder. Paul Heckingbottom described him as athletic and technical and stated that he sees him as a central midfielder. Gibbs’ only start from his first four Championship appearances came at full-back against Lincoln, and he accumulated 118 minutes before Heckingbottom’s departure resulted in further uncertainty.

Philippe Clement revealed he initially blocked Liam Gibbs’ desire for a January exit because of Norwich’s squad situation and limited options available. Clement stated that Liam wanted to leave in January because he wanted to play more football and had many injuries at Norwich. Clement convinced Gibbs to stay for the second half of the season but ultimately agreed to the loan for his development, as the manager now feels this is the right time for the midfielder to get regular playing time elsewhere.

English midfielder Liam Gibbs, aged 23, has moved to Preston North End from Norwich City on a season-long loan. Gibbs, who has made over 100 appearances for Norwich City since joining in July 2022, made the move to secure more regular first-team football. Preston manager Paul Heckingbottom commented that Gibbs is a young player with significant experience in the league, describing him as a good athlete and a technical player. Heckingbottom added that although Gibbs has been deployed in various roles at Norwich, he sees him primarily as a central midfielder. His contract at Norwich is valid until June 30, 2028, and he has a current Transfermarkt market value of €1.50m.
