Aberdeen have paused talks with St Mirren for midfielder Killian Phillips after contacting the club to inquire about the terms for signing the 24-year-old Republic of Ireland international. It was reported that Manager Stephen Robinson was keen to work with Phillips again; Robinson had previously signed Phillips for St Mirren, and Phillips also had a loan spell at Aberdeen in 2024. Aberdeen was prepared to pay a fee of approximately £500,000, but St Mirren wants more for the player, who has one year left on his contract. The Dons are now likely to pursue other options. St Mirren expects more interest in Phillips before the window closes. The Belgian club Kortrijk has contacted them but has not made a formal offer. The midfielder is also attracting interest from a German club and a number of American sides, including New England Revolution, San Jose Earthquakes, and LA Galaxy, and he will be permitted to speak with interested clubs in January. Phillips, who also holds United States nationality, joined St. Mirren in July 2025 and has four caps for Ireland. According to an estimate by Transfermarkt, his current market value is €1.00m.
