Illan Meslier Transfer from Leeds United to Beşiktaş
Beşiktaş have met with Illan Meslier's representatives to discuss the player's financial demands regarding an immediate move to Istanbul. The Turkish club wants to sign a new goalkeeper and can pursue the transfer now as their country's window remains open. It is reported that Leeds are willing to let the 25-year-old French goalkeeper leave for a nominal fee, as his contract at Elland Road is due to expire in less than five months. According to sources, Beşiktaş turned their attention to Meslier, who joined Leeds in July 2020 and has 13 caps for France U21 but has not made a senior appearance since last March, only after Leeds rejected their enquiry for teammate Lucas Perri last week. Other clubs from Italy, France, and Scotland, including Lorient, Celtic, and Inter Milan, are also interested in signing Meslier, but would have to wait until he becomes a free agent in the summer. His current market value is €12.00m, according to Transfermarkt.
