According to The Sun, negotiations took place between Dele Alli, his manager, and Birmingham during the summer.

Dele Alli, a 30-year-old English attacking midfielder, has been a free agent for ten months following an unsuccessful spell at Italian club Como. He reportedly has limited options in top European leagues. Following difficult periods at Everton and on loan at Turkish club Beşiktaş, there was previously mentioned interest from clubs in the lower English leagues, such as Birmingham and Wrexham. This interest suggests a move to a lower division might be a potential path for his return to football. The former England international has 37 caps and 3 goals for his country. According to Transfermarkt, his current valuation is €1.00m.
