Benfica expressed interest in acquiring the 18-year-old Greek midfielder Christos Mouzakitis. Reports from SPORT24, as relayed by Ilias Kallonás, indicated that the club approached Olympiacos with a proposal to invest 12-14 million euros for Mouzakitis. However, Olympiacos was firm on not negotiating for less than 20 million euros for 70% of the player's rights, setting this as a non-negotiable condition. The transfer did not progress as Benfica decided not to increase their offer. Bayer Leverkusen also showed interest but similarly failed to meet Olympiacos' valuation. The unwillingness of both clubs to satisfy the 20 million euro demand resulted in Mouzakitis remaining with Olympiacos for now. The player's contract with the Greek club is due to expire in 2029, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €12 million.
