Manchester United and Chelsea are both reportedly considering January transfer window moves for Sporting Lisbon's 19-year-old winger, Flavio Goncalves. Both Premier League clubs have scouted the player extensively. One source stated that there is an expectation they are prepared to make offers directly to Sporting this January. Other unnamed teams from the Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A have also scouted the versatile attacker, who can play on either flank or as a central attacking midfielder. Goncalves is currently under contract until 2030 with a release clause of €60m. Amid the growing interest, Sporting wants to agree a new contract to increase his release clause to nearer €100m, with the hope of selling him for a higher price in the future. The Portuguese club strongly wishes not to sell and will likely point to the existing €60m clause, but they are preparing for offers. There has not yet been concrete progress on a new contract. It is suggested the player and his representatives may be waiting to see what offers are made in January before deciding on their next action. According to Transfermarkt, the Portugal U21 international has a current market value of €15.00m.
