Rangers are now trying to sign Widell quickly because they want to ensure that they sign him before Blackburn Rovers and Derby County, who are also interested in him.

Rangers are prepared to compete with English Championship club Blackburn Rovers to sign Casper Widell. Sources have indicated that the Dutch club Excelsior will be willing to sell him for a fee in the region of £2-2.5million this summer, as Widell is into the final year of his contract.

Blackburn Rovers are interested in Excelsior's Swedish defender Casper Widell and are prepared to take action to bring him to the Championship. Widell can leave Excelsior this summer after the club’s 13th place finish in the Eredivisie this season. The centre-back is in the final year of his contract.

Blackburn Rovers and fellow Championship club Derby County are both interested in Excelsior's 23-year-old Swedish central defender, Casper Widell. The Scottish club Rangers FC is also interested in the Excelsior captain. Widell, who joined the Dutch club in July 2023, has a contract that runs until June 30, 2027. He has been capped 12 times for the Sweden U21 national team. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €1.50m.
