According to Alan Nixon via his Patreon, Alan Browne is in talks with Sunderland to have his contract paid up. Both Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End were frustrated after moves for the midfielder failed due to his demands. A January move could be easier if Browne is released by Sunderland. Should that happen, Browne would be free to find a new club in the January window, without having reservations over his contract offers. Blackburn Rovers could benefit from signing Browne, especially after Sondre Tronstad’s departure. If Browne becomes available on a free transfer, Blackburn have to make another move and may need to make a significant effort for a chance of signing him in January.

According to journalist Alan Nixon on Patreon, Preston North End are interested in bringing Alan Browne back over the coming weeks. Blackburn Rovers have also been linked with a move for Browne this summer. He is no longer favored at Sunderland in the Premier League and is considered not needed by the club, with a permanent exit expected soon. His chances of getting any game time in the top flight are low. Browne will not be going back to Middlesbrough, which has created an opportunity for clubs such as Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers.

The Lancashire Telegraph reports that Blackburn Rovers are interested in Alan Browne.

Blackburn Rovers are interested in signing Alan Browne, a 31-year-old central midfielder from Ireland who was on loan at Boro last season. It is a difficult deal to complete and there is a lot of interest from other Championship clubs. While Boro had considered re-signing Browne, his return is now considered unlikely because the club is considering other options. A resolution is not expected soon, as the player is currently part of Sunderland's squad in the USA. The Irish international has 39 caps and 5 goals for his country and has a contract with Sunderland until June 2027. His current market value is €2.00m, according to Transfermarkt.
