Sacha Tavolieri reports that Ryotaro Ito's transfer to Blackburn Rovers was cancelled due to an ankle issue detected during the medical examination. Blackburn Rovers decided to cancel the Japanese player's arrival and will seek other midfield players.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Ryotaro Ito's move to Blackburn Rovers remains uncertain and is not yet cancelled. This follows an issue being identified in his medical, which the Lancashire Telegraph revealed. Rovers have sought a specialist opinion on a past ankle issue and may decide to proceed and sign Ito. Earlier on Thursday, sources had described the chances of Ito joining as being very unlikely, and Tony Mowbray also expressed significant doubt at his pre-match press conference.

Blackburn's hopes of signing free agent midfielder Ryōtarō Itō are in serious doubt. Tony Mowbray said he had thought the club had secured a new signing, but that at this moment nothing has been completed. When asked about the possibility of the player still signing, Mowbray stated that he does not know, but suggested it is not going to happen now. The manager added that he does not know why the deal did not happen. Mowbray said he had assumed the deal would have been done, as the agents and the player travelled with that understanding. He added that it is not happening for a reason of which he is not currently aware.

Ryotaro Ito was expected to move to Ewood Park, as contracts were agreed and a medical was being conducted. Tony Mowbray revealed that the Japanese midfielder was no longer with the club. The Lancashire Telegraph states that Rovers withdrew from the deal due to issues related to Ito’s medical. Mowbray met with the player at the training ground and all arrangements had been made for the 28-year-old to join. However, the club decided not to proceed after the medical and a revived move seems highly unlikely.
