Other reasons cited by Barcelona for not pursuing Simons include concerns about sending the wrong signal to youth academy players and a new strategy to focus more on homegrown talent. The club also prioritizes signing a central defender over Simons.

Netherlands international Xavi Simons wants to leave Tottenham and hopes to secure a move back to Barcelona. According to El Nacional, Barcelona finds his $46.2 million price tag acceptable but has not yet decided whether to proceed with a move.
