Barcelona is following 21-year-old Portuguese centre-forward Gustavo Varela. Deco is familiar with the player from his time at Benfica. Varela, who has been performing well in Italy for Monza, was signed by the club from Benfica last summer for two million euros plus variables. According to Catalan media, Monza now intends to earn between 40 and 50 million euros for his transfer. Varela is under contract with Monza until June 2030 and has scored four goals in seven appearances for Portugal's U21 team. In addition to Barcelona, several Premier League and Bundesliga clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham, and Borussia Dortmund, have also been linked with him.
