Tuur Rommens Transfer from Westerlo to Rangers

Westerlo's technical director Francesco Carratta revealed it was impossible for the club to say no to the Rangers offer for Tuur Rommens. Carratta said that the money offered was too good for the Belgian side to reject. When asked by GVA if a bid could have been rejected with Rommens having just 18 months left on his contract, Carratta responded that it was impossible. He explained that the player has shown added value for three years, with a fantastic mentality and a lot of character. Carratta added that for the player it is an opportunity to take a step forward and for Westerlo it is a great showcase. He also stated that the club does not want to let any player go for a small amount. Carratta called four million Euros for Rommens a fair price for a player who has 1.5 years left on his contract. Moreover, he revealed that Rangers was the only team that showed interest this winter and that with bonuses, the amount could rise to five million Euros.

Rommens was the Gers’ second signing of the winter and has not featured since joining for a £3m deal. He has been sidelined with an ankle injury sustained before his move and is expected to return at some point in February.
