According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Basel is one of several clubs interested in Michel-Ange Balikwisha. The asking price for the player may be reduced due to his situation in Scotland. The winger does not have a future at Celtic and was left out of the match squad by coach Martin O’Neill.

Basel is interested in winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha. Martin O’Neill stated that there has been interest, but it is a move that Balikwisha would not want to make at this time.

Michel-Ange Balikwisha is a 25-year-old DR Congo international. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that the player is poised to depart from Celtic Glasgow, where he is seen as a casualty of Martin O'Neill's tactical system. The winger has not played this season and only made seven Premiership appearances in the previous term. According to Tavolieri, FC Basel, AC Monza, and SV 07 Elversberg have scouted Balikwisha, but the competition for the player is said to remain wide open. Balikwisha joined the Scottish club in August 2025, has a contract that runs until 2030, and a current Transfermarkt market value of €3.00m.
