Charlton Athletic have signed 23-year-old goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks from Gateshead on a two-and-a-half-year contract, which includes a club option for a further year. Brooks, who holds both English and Irish citizenship, joined Gateshead in the summer of 2024 and played in 23 of the club's 27 league games. Gateshead is at the bottom of the National League. It is believed that Rob Elliot, who recently returned as manager of Gateshead, was influential in the transfer. The Republic of Ireland U21 international has been capped 5 times at that level and joins as Charlton's third-choice goalkeeper following the departure of Ashley Maynard-Brewer.
