Raheem Sterling Transfer from Chelsea to Napoli
Tuttomercato reports that Raheem Sterling rejected Napoli's advances during the summer transfer window.
Sky Sports reported that Chelsea will try to find buyers for Sterling in the winter.
SSC Napoli reportedly made a last-minute attempt to sign Raheem Sterling, but no deal was reached. Sterling's salary of around 18 million euros per year is considered a major obstacle to a transfer. He could become an option again for the winter transfer window, but would likely need to accept a significantly lower salary to remain in top-level European football.
According to The Telegraph, a move for Sterling to the reigning Serie A champions, Napoli, is considered unlikely. While the Italian club has been credited with an interest in the player, Sterling himself appears reluctant to move overseas.
Napoli has shown interest in Raheem Sterling. The club made inquiries about the player, but no transfer has materialized. Sterling is currently marginalized at Chelsea and not part of the club's plans. BBC reports that terminating his contract would cost Chelsea about 35 million euros, representing the remainder of his salary. There were also substantial offers from the Saudi Pro League, which Sterling refused.
Napoli is reportedly contemplating reigniting their pursuit of Raheem Sterling. The club's management is said to have begun communications with intermediaries in an effort to persuade Chelsea to lower the asking price from 25 million. Napoli is looking into the possibility of a loan deal with partial salary coverage, given Sterling's existing contract of 16.9 million GBP, which runs until June 2027. This renewed interest has emerged after an urgent meeting involving Antonio Conte, Aurelio De Laurentiis, and Giovanni Manna, which followed Romelu Lukaku's significant injury. The club is currently exploring various options to bolster their offensive lineup, with Sterling being a leading candidate, alongside other potential targets such as Nikola Krstović and Andrea Pinamonti. Napoli is drawing on previous successful negotiations, like the one involving Kevin De Bruyne, to aid in this transfer.
