According to information reported by Magnoli, América de Cali is considering a significant signing for 2027 to commemorate its 100th anniversary, and 35-year-old Colombian forward Duván Zapata is a primary target. The report suggests the club is prepared to make a substantial financial effort to secure the forward's return. Magnoli also stated that Zapata is regaining his form at Torino and that América de Cali intends to make a significant effort to sign him for the striker position next year. This potential transfer would be a return for Zapata to the club where he began his professional career. There has been no official announcement about any negotiations. A primary obstacle is Zapata's contract with Torino, which the club announced in July 2026 was extended until June 30, 2028. Consequently, any earlier departure would depend on an agreement between the player and the Italian team. The cost of a potential negotiation and the player's salary are also considered significant hurdles. Zapata has 34 caps and 4 goals for Colombia. He joined Torino in July 2024 and his current market value is €2.5M, according to Transfermarkt.
