PSV have reportedly shown interest in Gustavo Varela, a 21-year-old forward of Portuguese and Cape Verdean nationality who is having an impressive season with Monza in Serie A. Fellow Dutch club Ajax is also said to be following the player. Both PSV and Ajax have sent scouts to Italy to observe him. Napoli is also reportedly monitoring Varela's performances, and it is said that technical director Giovanni Manna has had Varela's name on a list for some time. Additionally, Benfica, where the forward previously played for the B-team, is among the interested clubs. Varela joined Monza from Benfica in July 2026 for a fee reported to be between €2.5 million and €3.5 million, and his current contract runs until 2030. For the Portugal U21 team, he has 7 caps and scored 4 goals. His current Transfermarkt market value is €5.0M, though reports from October 2026 in the Italian media suggested an asking price of approximately €15 million.
