SC Cambuur have signed Rafik El Arguioui, a 21-year-old Moroccan-Dutch midfielder, from FC Utrecht on a one-season loan deal. The move marks El Arguioui's first full season in the Eredivisie. He has primarily played for Jong FC Utrecht, for whom he scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 27 matches last season. Last term, he made two senior appearances for Utrecht and made an impression in the Conference League play-off final against Ajax. El Arguioui is a Morocco U20 international with four caps and is contracted to Utrecht until 2029. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €500k. Via the club's channels, Cambuur's technical manager, Lars Lambooij, stated that El Arguioui is a creative and physically strong player who is a good fit for the high-intensity style of play the club wants. Utrecht coach Anthony Correia would have preferred for the player to stay and told Algemeen Dagblad that the club does not loan out talents from its youth academy without a plan for their future.
