Twenty-year-old Dutch central defender Billy van Duijl will play for SC Cambuur on loan from AZ for the current season to gain more experience in the Eredivisie. In April, AZ extended his contract until mid-2031. The player has primarily featured for Jong AZ in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, playing 49 matches, compared to 14 appearances for the senior team. SC Cambuur's technical manager, Lars Lambooij, stated on the club website that Van Duijl's qualities fit well with their style of play. He described him as a complete defender who is strong in duels and comfortable on the ball, adding that Van Duijl is prepared for the next step at the highest level after his experience with AZ's first team. Van Duijl is a Netherlands U19 international with three caps. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €1.50m.
