Everton considered signing Nottingham Forest’s 29-year-old Nigerian international Ola Aina during their search for a new right-back over the summer. Aina was one of several options looked at by the club, which also considered Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz and their top target, Strasbourg’s Guela Doue, who was deemed too expensive. The club ultimately did not pursue a deal for Aina, instead signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Lyon on the last day of the transfer window. Aina, who has 48 caps for Nigeria, joined Forest in July 2023 and is under contract until 2028. His current market value is listed as €18.00m by Transfermarkt.
