According to a report from Sky, Aston Villa is newly pursuing Borussia Mönchengladbach's German goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas. The Premier League club reportedly views the 28-year-old as a successor to their current number one, Emiliano Martínez, 33. The report also notes that FC Brentford has shown interest in Nicolas in the past. It is also said that the player himself can imagine a transfer to a top European club. Nicolas, who joined Mönchengladbach in July 2016, is under contract until 2029 and has made 12 Bundesliga appearances this season. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €5.00m.
