Mikel Amondarain is joining Bologna from Estudiantes, despite several inquiries from RB Leipzig and interest from five or six Premier League clubs, including Hull City, Ipswich Town, and Nottingham Forest. The 21-year-old Argentinian midfielder personally advocated for the move to the Serie A club, rejecting more financially lucrative offers because he considered it the ideal first step in European football. The transfer was completed for a fee of ten million euros plus two million in bonuses, and Estudiantes retains a 10% clause on a future sale. Amondarain is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Italian club. He joined Estudiantes in July 2025, and in the 2025/2026 season, he made 15 domestic league appearances, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist. Transfermarkt estimates his market value to be €3.50m.
